Watching news programs today I conclude that many gambling dens nationwide appeared to have closed up shop as police intensified their major crackdown against the vice, with dozens of gambling den operators having been rounded up since Monday when National Police chief Gen. Sutanto started his campaign against rampant gambling.

I think it is impossible to ban gambling in Indonesia because it has been the part of daily life. For certain ethnic, gambling is not bad activitties. They perceive it as throwing away bad lucks by playing cards. Crakcing down gambling needs a continuous effort. I am pesimistic that police have a long stamina against gambling.
