The Minister of Manpower and Transmigration, Fahmi Idris, predicted that there will be one million workers be laid off due to the increasing of oil price in the early Oktober. Idris said that textile and electronic industries are most suffered by the increasing of oil price.

Operating costs of several industrial sectors have gone up by 10 percent to 50 percent since, prompting companies to consider reducing their workforce to stay in business.
