Which one do you choose: Firefox or Flock? Why? October 24, 2005

This is very short question: which one do you choose as your main browser: Firefox or Flock? Why?

I am falling in love with Flock. It gives me all I need. I can manage my del.icio.us easily. Also, I am able to manage my blog seamlessly using one particular browser: Flock.

But, before using Flock as my main broswer, I used to get my Firefox browser. Sometimes there is a “gulity” feeling not to use Firefox as my default browser. I do not know why. Maybe because Firefox is my first non-Microsoft browser.

Bart Decrem, one of Flock Developers, in his weblog stated that his new start-up isn’t aimed at making their popular Firefox Web browser obsolete. But the fact is: Flock, in my humble opinion, is one step ahead of Firefox. Time will tell.

Back to my question: which one do you choose as your main browser: Firefox or Flock? Why?

gw tetep pake firefox, kalo buat ngurusin del.icio.us aja kan udah ada extension untuk ngurusin del.icio.us untuk firefox. Lagipula engine flock masih menggunakan core firefox. Mungkin nanti setelah flock versi agak tinggi baru bisa dilihat kelebihannya.

Flock ~~ Firefox + extensions.

Saya sih lebih berharap suatu hari nanti ada GoogleBrowser. Mmmmm :).

I totally agree with Bayu. Flock is like Firefox with an extension. I do like the design though…

Bayu and Ozzie, thanks for your comments. I want to quote what Bart Decrem said when he created Flock in relation with “extension”:

“Why not an extension?
We too love Firefox. We spent several months investigating (and writing code) how to deliver what we want to do in the form of a Firefox extension. In the end, we concluded that we needed to release our code in the form of a full browser. We want to be able to offer our users a complete end-to-end user experience, including a single browser download, an update service, technical support. the works. Further, we dont want to break anyones Firefox experience, or have our browser break, due to updates either way that have not been fully tested propagated. In the short term, that means that fewer people will play with our stuff, but over the long term we believe its the right way to go for us. Of course there will be many people who are perfectly happy with Firefox and are not interested in trying a new browser. The good news for those folks is that there are already hundreds of Firefox extensions, many of them aimed at integrating social services into the browser.”

Firefox is lovely, flock is also lovely… :)
And if you’re not a blogger or a del.icio.us user, you absolutely choose firefox just for general browser. And if you are a blogger, a flickr and del.icio.us user, of course flock is your heaven… :D

But i use both… :) and i like flock’s icon..

Website nya Flock payah. Gak ada screenshot resminya :)

Ini aturan yg saya pakai kalau mau pakai aplikasi opensource : 1. Cek About 2. Cek fitur 3. Cek screenshot. Ini saya jalankan dengan logika AND. Jika 1 s/d 3 oke, baru cari link Download.

Item 3 ini saya nilai dari [lucu, simpel, keren] enggaknya tampilan.

flock is great, potentially superb. kayak gabungan antara safari + firefox. tapi aku pikir sampai dia stabil, belum pantas jadi browser utama, masih sering crash dan banyak bug, jadi saya pakai dua2nya.
oh ya, kemaren saya iseng nulis review-nya flock di website saya.
